Celebrate the seamless transition from sun-kissed shores to vibrant beachside bars with a look that exudes the glamor of a Gold Coast Vacation. Think glamorous resort chic or playful swimwear, flowy cover-ups, and oversized sun hats.

2. Reinvented streetwear​

design brief

Showcase your creative brilliance while championing sustainability and ethical fashion practices. Craft an edgy streetwear look by using sustainable fabrics or upcycling and reinventing preloved clothing.

Embrace the global movement that is revolutionising the urban fashion landscape. Let your designs make a positive impact on the environment and inspire a more responsible fashion industry.

3. Met Gala Inspired Wearable art​

design brief

Blur the boundaries of art, sculpture and, fashion, let your imagination challenge your creativity, with the use of unconventional materials, artistry and construction.

With the use of recyclable products, plastics, beads, rubber, feathers, fur, leather, lace, paint, building materials, integrated tech.

Consider drawing on fictional themes, gender fluidity, cultural diversity, political statements, nature-inspired, historical musings, victorian style, mocking the ordinary

Your piece of wearable art should scream innovation, amaze and capture the wonder of the judges and the audience.

4. A day at the races

design brief

Race day extravagance meets unparalleled elegance, create an outfit that beautifully reflects the excitement of a day at the races. Think bold colours and extravagant silhouettes complemented by elegant fascinators or hats. The judges will focus on attention to detail, and how well the Fascinator/hat and outfit complement each other. The winning design will embody the sophistication of a Fashion of the Fields competition.

Design must be complemented by a fascinator, headpiece or hat. (this may be your own work or collaboration with a milliner)

5. THE ETHICAL BRIDE​

design brief

Celebrates the new age bride who values the planet and sustainable fashion practices. Create a gown thats not only beautiful but is made from sustainable fabrics and ethically sourced embellishments.

Judges will be looking for elegant style, attention to detail and the ability to embody sustainability in both the design and production process. This is a great opportunity to showcase your commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion practices for the bride of tomorrow.

6. First Nation Design

design brief

Australia is unique in its first nation people, ancient culture and diverse art! Indigenous designers have exclusive and unique fabrics, prints and story-telling inspired by their homeland.

Take this deep and rich past and throw it forward into future fashion that can represent and show-off First Nation fashion to a global market.

application requirement

If you incorporated the use of traditional art work, list the name of the artist.

You must also obtain written permission for the use of the artist’s work.
